#Arkh wants and NEEDS our supporters to spread the word in real life. Are you in any queer organizations, PoC organizations, QPoC organizations or just plain old human rights organizations? Are you in a major city and can just hand out flyers on the street?
WE NEED YOU.
Be a part of Arkh’s street team!
The street team is an attempt to get Arkh into the eyes of people who might not spend a lot of time online, but would have an interest anyway.
The best thing about joining the street team is that all it requires is your TIME and DEDICATION.The above is a flyer you can print and distribute at your leisure. You can download the PDF here. Distribute these flyers WHEREVER YOU WANT. Leave them in apartment buildings, libraries, stores, universities, and just plain hand them out on the street.
And if you want to, and you can? TAKE VIDEO! Send us video of your exploits and help us let the world know that Arkh is here and Arkh is EVERYWHERE!That said, Arkh is looking for people in NYC to be part of the NYC street team. We will specifically plan a Saturday or Sunday to hang out in Manhattan and hand out flyers. We also need someone to video us! Email thearkhproject@gmail.com and let us know if you’re available!
And don’t forget today’s TWITTER BLITZ! Tweet #Arkh and spread the word!

CYBORGS OF COLOR!
The dopest of the dope.
BAWSE.
this quite accurately sums up the way PoC have to deal with racism. honestly, as much as white people want to diminish the affect that erasure, racially-charged violence (physical, emotional, spiritual, mental), unapologetic ignorance, refusal of non-PoC to grow and learn, and blatant disrespect have on the psyche and well-being of a PoC, it’s not only tiring, but it can push you to the very limits of your tolerance for anything. but, if these offenses to our very beings are not dealt with, our only other choice is, in one way or another, to die.

same goes for sexism.

“When asked why no one from Occupy Hartford, including the victim reported the sex assault to police, they told officers they did not want to draw any negative attention to their cause.”
(trigger warning: sexual assault)
This is what the mainstream media needs to be reporting on. YES, there are problematic aspects of the #OWS movement. Women and POC do not always feel safe and welcome at the Occupy camps. No one should ever, ever have to feel like they need to keep silent because the media is already portraying the movement so negatively. You created this, media. This is rape culture. Where a woman is afraid to speak out about sexual assault because of what YOU will say about it. You did this.

Okay, good to know. I read up on womanism a couple weeks ago and noticed virtually all of it’s support is of PoC. I’m glad to hear your opinion on it. I would love to be an ally to the womanist movement.
Good to hear.
The best advice I can give you is to read, listen, and understand that it is not the job of WOC to mince words about or sugar-coat any of the oppression that we have faced and continue to face to coddle your feelings.
To truly be an ally is not an easy road to travel. You will find yourself faced with harsh realities and will need to acknowledge and work against your own privilege without getting upset about the way it’s presented to you.
So y’know what?
Welp…………………….

Occupy Wall Street is only 1.6% black

What was that about POC being mean to all the white people and ignoring all the Brown folks participating in OWS?
Yeah. Fuck you if you come at me, or anyone else saying there are oh-so-many Brown people, so clearly there’s no racism in the movement.
THERE ARE MORE PEOPLE OF COLOR AT HARVARD THAN THERE ARE FEELING WELCOME AND SUPPORTED TO PARTICIPATE AT OWS.
You’re doing something wrong when an Ivy League is doing race better than you.

rant. possible unfollow bait. whatever.
I understand the need for occupy wall street (even if it is the brainchild of fucking adbusters). Yet every time I read an article or see another white person holding a piece of paper bemoaning the cost of education or the cost of living and breathing in America I can’t help but think now you see how the other 30+% of us live. Sorry no one prepared your privileged ass for reality. Unemployment crisis? What about the fucking life crisis that’s been happening in your own backyard?
Truth.
I understand and support the various occupations that are pooping up around the country.
But Shana is on point here. We need to acknowledge that this is not a new problem for POC and recognize that struggle.
